Stolen Love

So, as you all know, my family has recently brought a new edition into our home, a puppy.  Now, for awhile, we had no idea what to name her because we like to name our pets after their personality.  So little miss no-name was taking over our lives with her cute self until one day when I was making a rosette letter for myself and my son saw the pretty pink rosettes and looked at me and said "Rose".  I said, "Yes, honey, little roses for the letter".  He shook his head no and said "The puppies name is Rose".  Yes, I fell instantly in love with that name and it's just perfect for her.  She's beautiful like a rose, but be careful, she'll prick you with her teeth ha!
Here's the rosette covered letter I was making (not finished)

A few days before that, we actually found out that Roses' sister, Tinkerbell lives next door.  It was odd, because my cousin said he found her in a ditch and now all of a sudden, there's a sister next door?  It just didn't make any sense but we thought maybe he had found another one of the puppies and gave it a home, like he did for Rose.  Of course we couldn't ask him because of an issue we had and they moved out.  Later on that week, one of my cousins friends came over asking if we had a puppy and I told him we did and he let us know that it was his and had actually been stolen from his yard.
Yeah, my heart sank.  Not only for the boy, but for my son, my family, for Rose.  To be honest, I didn't want to give her up.  We love her, she's part of our family now.  But the boy was generous enough to let us keep Rose and let our neighbors keep Tinkerbell.  He told us that it was because he knew us and he knew we would take very good care of her.  Which we do, She's spoiled ROTTEN!
Here's a picture of Tinkerbell (left) and Rose (right)

Yard Sale What?!

Okay, so I have to fold on this one; I love Georgia for it's Yard Sales.  I'm originally from Orlando, Florida and I have been in Northwest Georgia for five years now and I have to say that I hate it - a lot.  There's a few things here that help me to not move, for instance, I'm living on a nice street in a quiet neighborhood, that dead ends into a school, it's a brick home, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, and a decent size back yard.  The price we pay for rent here is $500 a month which flabbergasts me because if this home, in this neighborhood were in Orlando, it would be $1500 a month, at least.  Plus, there's this thing called the Dixie Highway Yardsale and it lasts three days and stretches I believe close to 100 miles.  People get out there items they want to sell and there are some great deals you can get.
I spent a total of $41 today at the yardsale.  $20 for a large dog crate for our new puppy, 3 small toys for $5, a wooden bench/table for $4, and a small wooden plant stand for $2.  We started back to the house when we thought, ahh there's a really large yardsale and omgoodnesspicklesonabun!  There was a wingback chair and it was gorgeous!  A little background on why I almost fainted:  I am in love with wingback chairs and I have been desperately searching for the perfect one at the perfect price.  Each time I find one, I think to myself ... 'no, that's too much, I'll just keep looking'.  So my mom goes over to the chair, sits in it, and says it's sturdy, almost as if no one had ever sat on it, and the coloring isn't fading.  The lady at the booth walked up to my mom and asked her if she needed any help.  My mom asked her how much the chair was and she said, well everything under this tent is half off, so the chair would be $10.  Yeah, I think I fainted standing up.  TEN DOLLARS!!!!  Yeah, so that was my amazing bargain for today and I was thrilled.  So thrilled I went and bought rope from a guy at another booth and shoved the chair in the trunk lol.  So here it is, my amazing yardsale find and a reason why I'll stay in Georgia one more year (=.

Online School versus Brick and Mortar

When your child is not getting the grades or marks that you wish they did and when they are being bullied everyday and have no friends, you being to think about what your choices are that can make his or her life better.  So I go to Google, my go to search engine (no, they didn't pay me to say that; but I would have taken the money if they had haha!) and I looked up home school your child or something to that effect.  The first place that popped up was Georgia Connections Academy.  I had no idea what this was but decided to click on it anyhow, because I needed any and all options to consider them.
So Georgia's Connections Academy is an online charter school for children who well, attend school online.  Yeah, online school for kids ... what?  So, I'm curious and I start browsing their website and everything I read, causes me to get really excited because I'm loving what I see.  My main concern is social interaction because of not being in a brick and mortar school.  Well, I see that there's an "In Person Session" where you can go to a public meeting where professionals from the school come and discuss the school and you get to ask questions.  I signed up for it, and I went.
The school has events, clubs, field trips, P.E., web sessions where the students see the teacher, the students can email, message, and learn with one another, and the class goes by each individual students pace.  My fears were dwindled down to nothing when I heard that there were 4-6 field trips per month.  Which means that he will have the opportunity to have social interaction.
I highly suggest this school (free!!!) to any parent or guardian who stays at home and can devote time to helping their children with their school work and who's child needs extra help (more one on one), has issues with bullying, has several extracurricular activities, a job (yes, a job!  This school is k-12), etc.
We're going to try this school out for a full year (even if it gets tough for him) and see how he is at the end of the year (=  I can't wait!!  If you want to find out more, click the link below.

Puppy Breath!

Okay, so one of my favorite things in life is the smell of puppy breath.  I kid you not, if I see a puppy who needs a home, the only thing I need to be convinced that the puppy should go home with me is in fact ... the smell of puppy breath, it's my kryptonite.
So anyhow, my cousin is hanging out with his friends and comes home with a puppy that he has found in a ditch.  )= The puppy is about one week old and we have no idea whether or not it was ever fed by its mom.  But my son wanted it, my mom said okay, and of course, you know my answer!  So we're nursing the puppy back to health.  The cutie is drinking from a bottle like it's starving, but believe me ... by the size of her belly, she is definitely not hungry haha!
We didn't know what kind of dog it was, so we took it to our local pet store, Pets R Us and they said that it looked like a Cocker Spaniel.  However, she so golden, that we thought she was a Golden Retriever.  So when we got home, I looked up Golden Cocker Spaniel Mix puppy and the pictures I found, look 90% identical to our baby.  So I have downloaded the pictures and added our babies picture with them.
The pictures on the left, are the ones I found online and the pictures on the right are the pictures of our baby.  If you'll notice, ours has the same triangle ear that is darker than the rest of her fur.  Also, she has a white patch on the top of her head, just like this one.  Two breeds of dogs that are fantastic!          We haven't named her yet, we're waiting to see what her mannerisms are when she gets older.  We're also looking into naming her something that has to do with being lucky, but without using the names lucky and chance.  Any ideas?  (=
PUPPY BREATH ROCKS!

A bird's eye view

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see how some people live?  Don't lie, I know you have.  Well, I'm going to let you in my life and home.
So my small family consists of my mom, my son, and myself.  Hmm ... looking back at that statement, it doesn't seem as odd as I thought it would.  It's normal now-a-days with the economy like it is, for children to live at home with their parents (in my case, my mom).  My mom and I have a great relationship, which is nice; especially when you're living under the same roof.  My mom has been retired from Orange County (Florida) public schools for about 6 years now and is currently working as a Supervisor at the local Rite Aid.  I am a full time student and owner of a business that I have in my home, which you'll see a lot of posts about and I apologize in advance ha!
         Enjoy!
