Okay, so I have to fold on this one; I love Georgia for it's Yard Sales. I'm originally from Orlando, Florida and I have been in Northwest Georgia for five years now and I have to say that I hate it - a lot. There's a few things here that help me to not move, for instance, I'm living on a nice street in a quiet neighborhood, that dead ends into a school, it's a brick home, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, and a decent size back yard. The price we pay for rent here is $500 a month which flabbergasts me because if this home, in this neighborhood were in Orlando, it would be $1500 a month, at least. Plus, there's this thing called the Dixie Highway Yardsale and it lasts three days and stretches I believe close to 100 miles. People get out there items they want to sell and there are some great deals you can get.
I spent a total of $41 today at the yardsale. $20 for a large dog crate for our new puppy, 3 small toys for $5, a wooden bench/table for $4, and a small wooden plant stand for $2. We started back to the house when we thought, ahh there's a really large yardsale and omgoodnesspicklesonabun! There was a wingback chair and it was gorgeous! A little background on why I almost fainted: I am in love with wingback chairs and I have been desperately searching for the perfect one at the perfect price. Each time I find one, I think to myself ... 'no, that's too much, I'll just keep looking'. So my mom goes over to the chair, sits in it, and says it's sturdy, almost as if no one had ever sat on it, and the coloring isn't fading. The lady at the booth walked up to my mom and asked her if she needed any help. My mom asked her how much the chair was and she said, well everything under this tent is half off, so the chair would be $10. Yeah, I think I fainted standing up. TEN DOLLARS!!!! Yeah, so that was my amazing bargain for today and I was thrilled. So thrilled I went and bought rope from a guy at another booth and shoved the chair in the trunk lol. So here it is, my amazing yardsale find and a reason why I'll stay in Georgia one more year (=.
Amazing what treasures you find at yard sales! lol
ReplyDeleteI know! It was funny, because I just KNEW it was going to be $60. I almost hugged the lady, I know I hugged the chair.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous. I never got to go. Worked the whole weekend. :/ But you can find some amazing deals at the yardsales here.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually the first weekend I had money and my mom was able to go; which made it much more fun! I am 'planning' to do it next year. Nothing will stand in my way lol. When you find out the dates of the yardsale, you should ask for those days to be one of your days off! I'm renting a truck from UHaul next time lol!
